Possible Surgery Risks

Serious complications are rare, but tummy tummy tuck surgery does involve some risks.

Blood Clots

Any surgery that involves anesthesia for longer than 30 minutes could cause the increase in the risk of blood clots. If a blood clot forms inside a vessel it could become dangerous, because it can interfere with your circulation; it can sometimes break and travel to other parts of the body including the lungs, the brain and the heart.

During initial consultation the surgeon will take a medical history of the patient to determine if the patient is at increased risk of developing blood clots.

Infections

Some research has shown that most infections following Tummy Tuck Surgery result from the failure of patients to care properly for their wounds. It is therefore important that you follow the surgeons instructions regarding when to remove the change bandages, and how to keep the wound clean.

 

 

Slow Healing

Every body is different and therefore everybody heals at different rates. However it can be said that usually young people heal faster than older people. After the surgery there is usually a certain amount of tenderness and bruising this will usually pass after about 4 to 6 weeks.
